FIT4MOM Torrance | Branding Photography in Torrance
It’s time for another local business feature! Today I want to introduce Natalie of FIT4MOM Torrance! Natalie and I were introduced through a mutual friend and right away I loved how generous and community centric she was.
She's been such a joy to work with so far and I look forward to growing our friendship and continuing to meet other moms and women via her fantastic events! As the owner of FIT4MOM Torrance, she organizes and teaches exercise and health classes for moms from all walks of life. Below, I've shared all about Natalie and her wonderful business and at the bottom you'll also find ways to get in touch with her!
What product or service does your business offer?
We are a pre and postnatal fitness program that is designed for mamas in all stages of motherhood. We have our flagship stroller-based classes, Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre for the mom who is anywhere from 6 weeks postpartum to 4 years! (or as long as her child will stay seated in the stroller). Then we also have our evening classes for our working moms, or moms whose kids have outgrown a stroller. That’s Body Back and it’s a higher intensity, results-driven program. We also offer a Run Club that gives moms a place to get that extra cardio into their routine, and also trains them for local 5k, 10k, or half marathon races. And finally, I’d be remiss to not mention all of the fun we have outside of the workouts! We are so much more than an exercise program. Our Village is a place where moms find community during one of the most trying times in their lives. So we nurture that with weekly playdates and crafts after class and monthly mom’s nights out.
How long have you been in business?
FIT4MOM Torrance was born in 2015, however I took over as the owner in February 2018. We’re one of hundreds of nationwide franchises, helping mamas everywhere to find their Village and their sense of self, after having a baby.
Who runs the business?
I do!!! I have 5 amazing instructors who teach classes throughout the week, and I couldn’t do it without them, but the business side of things is all me, and I am loving the challenge. I come from a marketing background, so I have confidence in the things I want to do, my challenge is slowing down and knowing when to do each of those things.
How did you get started and what do you love about your work?
If you asked me a year ago whether I would be here today, I wouldn’t have even known it existed! I was on maternity leave after having my second daughter, fully planning on returning to the position I held at a marketing firm. I was also new to Long Beach, having only lived there for a few months. That’s when I found my local FIT4MOM and joined as a way to meet other new moms and get in shape in the process. As the end of my maternity leave neared, my husband and I had a conversation about whether I should go back to work full-time, or not. It had never even crossed my mind that I wouldn’t, but when the opportunity to spend more time with my girls was right there in front of me, I had to explore it. So I started thinking about what I would do if I didn’t go back to work. And since FIT4MOM was such a part of my life in that moment, I considered becoming an instructor. As I explored that further, I learned that it was a franchise and knew that my background was better suited for the business side than the fitness instruction side (though I do that now, too!). And so long story, short, that conversation with my husband was just before the holidays in 2017 and I bought my franchise in Feb of 2018. The best decision I ever made! There are so many things I LOVE about my work. The top of the list has to be knowing that I am helping other moms find a place to be heard, to be understood, and to feel normal again - a true sisterhood in motherhood. A close second to that, is the impression we are leaving on our children as they watch us workout. They are forming a positive relationship with exercise, and are also learning that mommy gets to have this hour of the day to take care of herself.
Where are you located or what areas do you work in?
Our primary location is Wilson Park; we have classes there every morning, Monday - Saturday! It’s great because it’s a huge park with lots to explore throughout a single class, and is also a great play date setting for the kiddos after class. Our evening classes are at a beautiful studio that we rent space in, called The Monarch Ballroom in Old Town Torrance. We just started here and are loving the space and our incredibly friendly landlords. The Run Club meets in various locations across Torrance to accommodate the needs of the training schedule (hills, flats, etc.).
